First Christian is blessed with a vibrant music department that embodies our motto, “All Are Welcome.” The Music Ministry of FCC includes four choirs: Adult Chancel Choir, Adult Handbell Choir, Children’s Choir and Camille Gaylord Chimers (a choir designed for adults with special needs). Each choir participates in worship throughout the year.
What makes the music department of First Christian so great is its diversity. People of various abilities come together to make beautiful music for our Lord. There is a place for everyone in FCC’s music ministry. Below is a listing of rehearsal dates and times for all choirs. You are always welcome to be a part of FCC’s music ministry.
(All choirs meet weekly September-May, unless noted)
Children’s Choir, Wednesday at 6:00-6:20p
Adult Handbell Choir, Wednesday at 6:30-7:20p
Adult Chancel Choir, Wednesday at 7:30-8:30p
Camille Gaylord Chimers, Sunday at 10:00-10:15a (as needed)
The Adult Chancel Choir is comprised of adults ages 18+. Each week, this choir prepares anthems in the traditional Protestant tradition. The choir leads the congregation in hymn singing and sings an anthem each week. The choral repertoire consists of anthems that are unison, two-part, SAB and SATB. You do not have to have a trained voice to sing in the Chancel Choir: All you need is a love of music and a desire to help lead others in worship.
The Adult Chancel Choir is comprised of adults ages 18+. Each week, this choir prepares anthems in the traditional Protestant tradition. The Camille Gaylord Chimers is a great addition to our music ministry! This ensemble is made up of members of the Camille Gaylord Sunday School Class (adults with special needs). This chime choir rings during worship throughout the year. The Camille Gaylord Chimers have performed at the Disciples of Christ Women’s Quadrennial in July 2010, where they performed before an audience of 2,000+ women!
The Children’s Choir is comprised of children ages 4-5th grade. The children sing throughout the church year, usually during Advent and Easter. This group incorporates rhythm instruments and choir chimes in their repertoire. The Children’s Choir is open to any and all children of appropriate age.
